How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Design Engineer – Gloucester – £45-55k + 9 Day Fortnight + Private Medical Insurance

    Samuel Frank is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business in Gloucester.

    The successful Electrical Design Engineer will design electrical control systems for standard and bespoke automated machinery used by customers worldwide. Projects include assembly and test equipment, robotic loading cells, casting machinery and automated production systems.

    This position will suit an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of their work and collaborating with mechanical and software engineers to develop complete machinery solutions.

    Key aspects of the Electrical Design Engineer role include:

    * Producing electrical schematics (company uses AutoCAD Electrical)

    * Creating control-panel and cabinet layouts

    * Producing bills of materials, termination lists and supporting technical documentation

    * Selecting electrical components with consideration for availability, obsolescence, standardisation and cost

    * Working from customer specifications and internal machine sales documentation

    * Collaborating with mechanical, software and pneumatic engineers

    * Presenting electrical designs during project design reviews

    * Supporting electrical risk assessments, machine safety and CE compliance

    * Identifying and reporting technical risks

    * Managing design changes and maintaining accurate project documentation

    * Providing occasional customer support, including presentations and fault-finding

    * Taking the technical lead on allocated projects

    The successful Electrical Design Engineer will ideally have:

    * Previous electrical design experience within automated machinery, special-purpose machinery, control systems or a similar engineering environment

    * AutoCAD Electrical skills

    * An understanding of machinery safety, risk assessments and CE compliance

    * A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of technical challenges
