How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Full Stack Web Developer (PHP)
    £50k-£60k DOE || Remote Working

    Summary of Position
    The Senior Full Stack Web Developer is responsible for the development, maintenance, optimisation and ongoing evolution of the TW Group’s e-commerce and wider web estate, spanning multiple websites, applications and technologies including Magento 2, Laravel, WordPress and other platforms.

    Key responsibilities include:
    Taking technical ownership of web development projects and change requests from initial requirements and solution design through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
    • Designing, developing and maintaining robust, scalable and maintainable full-stack web applications, e commerce solutions and custom websites.
    • Supporting and continuously improving existing websites and applications, including identifying, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, performance bottlenecks and production incidents.
    • Developing and maintaining integrations between internal and external systems using RESTful APIs, third-party services and other integration technologies.
    • Contributing to technical architecture and solution design, ensuring implementations follow appropriate development standards, security practices, design patterns and coding best practices.
    • Reviewing and improving existing codebases, identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve performance and increase maintainability.
    • Ensuring changes are thoroughly tested in appropriate development and controlled environments before release to production.
    • Working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business requirements, assess technical feasibility and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
    • Supporting development standards and engineering processes including source control, code reviews, CI/CD and deployment practices.
    • Providing technical guidance, knowledge sharing and mentoring to other developers, while promoting high standards of code quality and engineering best practice.
    • Keeping up to date with relevant technologies and identifying opportunities to improve the Group’s development processes, platforms and technical capabilities, including the appropriate use of automation and AI-assisted development tools.

    Core Technical Skills
    Strong proficiency in PHP (modern versions, OOP, best practices)
    • Extensive experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or similar
    • Solid front-end development skills using JavaScript / TypeScript
    • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Vue, or Angular)
    • Deep understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design
    • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs

    Essential Tools & Ecosystem
    Experience with version control using Git (branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews)
    • Strong working knowledge of Composer
    • Experience with npm / Node.js • Familiarity with build tools (e.g. Vite, Webpack)
    • Experience working with Linux-based development environments
     
    Backend & Database
    Strong experience with MySQL
    • Understanding of database design, indexing, and performance optimisation
    • Experience with ORMs (e.g. Eloquent, Doctrine)
    • Knowledge of caching systems (Redis, Memcached)  

    Architecture & Best Practices
    • Proven experience designing scalable and maintainable applications
    • Strong understanding of MVC architecture and design patterns
    • Experience writing clean, testable, and well-documented code
    • Understanding of API security, authentication, and authorization

    DevOps & Deployment
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
    • Familiarity with Docker and containerised environments
    • Understanding of server management and web servers (Nginx, Apache)

    Experience
    • 5+ years of professional development experience, primarily with PHP
    • Proven track record of delivering production-grade web applications
    • Previous experience in a senior role

    Soft Skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to mentor and support junior developers
    • Excellent communication skills • Proactive mindset with strong ownership of work

    Nice-to-Have
    • Familiarity with GraphQL
    • Experience with microservices architecture
    • Exposure to automated testing pipelines and QA processes
    • Experience working with magento 2 and building modules
    • Understanding / experience of working with AI agents.
