How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: In Person
    Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
    Working Hours: 2-week rotating shift pattern

    The Role

    Alpha Recruitment are looking for a motivated and skilled Plant Fitter/Engineer to join a growing and dynamic team.

    You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of plant and equipment, using your mechanical and electrical expertise to diagnose faults and ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

    Experience across the full range of equipment isn't essential, as training can be provided in certain areas where experience is limited.

    * Forklift Trucks

    * Compressors

    * Generators

    * Welders

    * Avant loaders

    * Small Plant

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out routine inspections, diagnostics and preventative maintenance.

    * Diagnose faults and complete repairs effectively.

    * Interpret technical schematics and manuals when troubleshooting equipment.

    * Assemble new equipment and modify existing machinery where required.

    * Maintain accurate service records, repair logs and maintenance schedules.

    * Ensure all equipment is maintained to a high standard and operates safely.

    * Provide excellent customer service and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have:

    * Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of plant machinery.

    * Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.

    * Experience with fabrication, including welding and metalwork.

    * Knowledge of hydraulic systems, power tools, hand tools and mechanical assembly.

    * Experience operating and/or repairing a variety of plant machinery.

    * The ability to read and understand technical schematics and manuals.

    * A proactive approach and strong problem-solving skills.

    * Good customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

    Experience across all areas isn't essential — if you have a strong mechanical/electrical background and experience with some of the equipment listed above, training can be provided in other areas.

    Working Hours

    The role operates on a 2-week rotation:

    Week 1: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
    Week 2: Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 5:00pm
    Friday, 7:30am – 2:00pm
