How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Aviation & Fuel Infrastructure
MASHCo (Manchester Airport Storage & Hydrant Company) operates the aviation fuel farm at Manchester Airport, delivering fuel reliably and safely to one of the UK's busiest airports. We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team - a technically demanding, safety-critical role, combining hands-on mechanical maintenance with planning, coordination and technical reporting,in a highly regulated environment, and an opportunity to build real depth in fuel farm and hydrant systems, carry genuine responsibility from day one, and be part of a team that takes genuine pride in what it does.
    Location: Manchester Airport, on-site
Salary: £50,677 to £53,658 depending on experience, rising to £59,620 on successful completion of training and assessment as fully competent in role
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday, with some planned overtime and nights as required, averaging once every 2 months.
    Contract: Permanent
    What you'll be doing
    * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding across fuel farm plant, hydrant systems, valves, pumps, and associated infrastructure.
    * Acting as an authorised person within the Permit to Work and Control of Work processes - preparing, issuing, monitoring, and closing out permits.
    * Coordinating third-party contractors on site: verifying completed works, reviewing documentation, and escalating quality or programme issues where needed.
    * Preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements, maintaining accurate service records, and producing technical reports for management.
    * Contributing to safety audits, compliance with JIG standards and COMAH requirements, and ongoing site improvement.
    * Recording maintenance activities, defects and repairs within CMMS, planning any rectifications in a timely manner in liaison with the maintenance team.
    * Providing regular updates to the Maintenance Manager on maintenance progress, equipment condition, outstanding defects and operational risks.
    What you need to bring
    * NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with at least five years of hands-on post-apprenticeship maintenance experience.
    * Practical background in an industrial, safety-critical, or regulated environment - aviation, fuel, petrochemical, utilities, or similar.
    * Experience working within a formal Control of Work system and preparing or reviewing RAMS.
    * Confident IT skills, experience using a CMMS, and the ability to produce clear written documentation.
    * Full driving licence and eligibility for an airside pass (five-year checkable employment history and basic DBS).
    Why you'll love this job
    * A salary sacrifice pension with up to 10% employer contribution, 25 days holiday rising to 28 with service, and fully funded specialist qualifications including COMPEX and MJI - with the study time to complete them.
    * A technically rich, regulated environment where your skills genuinely matter and no two days are the same.
    * A close-knit, experienced team with high professional standards and a safety-first culture they are proud of.
If you have the hands-on mechanical maintenance background and the appetite for a technically demanding role in a genuinely distinctive setting, we would love to hear from you. Apply now with your CV and a member of the MASHCo team will be in touch promptly.
