How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School

    Location: Hertfordshire

    Pay: £101.50–£105 per day

    Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

    Start date: 21 September 2026

Teach Now is recruiting an experienced, caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, inclusive primary school in Hertfordshire.

Working across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, you will support pupils with autism (ASC), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), communication difficulties and associated learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to build trusting relationships and help children develop confidence and independence.

    About the school

This diverse community primary school provides a nurturing environment where every child feels valued. You will join a collaborative team, working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and external specialists to deliver personalised support.

    Your responsibilities

    • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapting activities to pupils needs.

    • Follow EHCPs, individual support plans and behaviour strategies.

    • Support emotional regulation, communication, sensory needs and social skills.

    • Use visual timetables, now-and-next boards and other personalised resources.

    • Help pupils manage transitions and less structured times, including breaktimes.

    • Monitor progress and share observations with teachers and the SENCo.
    What were looking for

    • Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND, particularly autism, SEMH or complex needs.

    • A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support.

    • Strong communication skills and the flexibility to work across year groups.

    • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

    • A relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification is desirable.
    What this role offers

    • A supportive leadership team and close guidance from the SENCo.

    • A long-term opportunity to build relationships and see pupils progress.

    • Professional development in autism, SEMH and communication strategies.

    • Varied experience across the primary age range within a caring school community.
