How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the role

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team in Redditch!

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead and develop our finance team while overseeing the effective day-to-day delivery of the accounts function. You will be responsible for coordinating departmental workloads and ensuring our transactional finance, month-end, cash-management and general accounting activities are completed accurately and on time.

You will work closely alongside our Financial Controller, who leads on financial reporting, controls, compliance, audit and technical accounting. Together, you will help provide a coordinated, reliable and effective finance service across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident people manager with strong operational finance experience who enjoys developing teams, improving processes and maintaining consistently high standards.

    Who we are

McHale Komatsu is a leading supplier of Komatsu construction equipment across the UK. We provide high-quality machinery, parts and aftersales support to customers throughout the construction, infrastructure and associated industries.

Our people are central to our success. We are committed to delivering an excellent service to our customers while creating a supportive, collaborative and professional working environment for our employees.

    Key responsibilities

    As Finance Manager, you will:

Lead, manage and develop the finance team, setting clear objectives, responsibilities and service standards.

Plan and allocate workloads to ensure appropriate cover and the timely completion of departmental activities.

Coordinate the operational month-end timetable, ensuring all required tasks, reconciliations and supporting information are completed accurately and on time.

Review the quality and completeness of information provided for management accounts and group reporting.

Oversee payment runs, customer receipts, bank reconciliations and other cash-management activities.

Monitor debtor and creditor positions, aged balances and collection activity, escalating any material concerns where necessary.

Support the Finance Director with budgets, forecasts and wider departmental priorities.

Work closely with the Financial Controller to resolve reporting, control and technical accounting matters.

Ensure agreed financial controls, delegated authorities and processes are understood and followed across the team.

Identify and implement practical improvements to systems, workflows and ways of working.

Maintain clear, accurate and up-to-date departmental procedures and process documentation.

Build strong working relationships across the business and ensure finance queries are handled professionally and efficiently.

Support the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of finance team members.

    What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who can combine strong operational finance knowledge with confident and supportive people management.

A recognised professional accountancy qualification, such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or substantial relevant experience supported by an appropriate finance qualification.

Significant experience within a busy finance function, including responsibility for day-to-day accounts operations.

Proven experience of successfully leading, managing and developing a finance team.

Strong working knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, banking, reconciliations and general accounting processes.

Experience coordinating month-end activities and delivering accurate information to demanding deadlines.

Experience managing team workloads, priorities, performance and service standards.

A track record of improving finance processes, systems and ways of working.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong experience using finance and ERP systems.

Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Strong communication skills and the confidence to build effective working relationships at all levels.

A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.

    Desirable

Experience within an engineering, construction equipment, distribution or similarly operational business.

Experience working within a group structure or multi-site organisation.

Experience of stock, inventory, assets or high-volume transactional finance.

Experience supporting finance-system implementation or transformation projects.

Previous experience working alongside a Financial Controller or another technical finance lead.

    Why join us?

This is a key leadership role within our finance function, offering the opportunity to shape the day-to-day operation of the department, develop a capable and engaged team and contribute to ongoing improvements across the business.

You will join an established and growing organisation, working closely with senior finance colleagues and operational teams across McHale Komatsu.

If you are an experienced finance professional who enjoys leading people, improving processes and delivering an effective and dependable finance service, we would be pleased to hear from you.
