Location: West Yorkshire
Salary: £34,320 increasing to £36,400 after probation + Overtime
Hours: Full-Time (8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday–Friday)
About the Role
We are recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a growing and well-established materials handling business in West Yorkshire.
The company specialises in the sale, hire, and servicing of materials handling equipment and is currently experiencing a period of growth. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to add an experienced engineer to their team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of materials handling equipment at customer sites. You will primarily work on electric forklifts, alongside gas and diesel-powered equipment.
This is a field-based, customer-facing role offering variety and autonomy, with no overnight stays required. You will be part of a supportive team with a genuine family feel and a strong working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Service, maintain, and repair materials handling equipment
Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs on forklifts and associated equipment
Work primarily on electric forklifts, alongside gas and diesel equipment
Attend customer sites to complete scheduled servicing and breakdown work
Complete preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers while working on-site
Complete relevant service reports and documentation
Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety regulations
Manage your own workload and travel between customer sites
Work closely with the wider team to ensure a high standard of service is maintained
About You
Previous experience working as a Field Service Engineer, Plant Engineer, Forklift Engineer, or in a similar engineering role
Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering background
Experience working on materials handling equipment and forklifts
Experience with electric forklifts is highly advantageous
Experience working with gas and diesel equipment would also be beneficial
Relevant engineering qualifications or an apprenticeship would be advantageous, but experience is the most important factor
LOLER certification is desirable but not essential
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Committed to working safely and maintaining high standards
