THE ROLE
As an Experienced Multi-Skilled Painter / SMART Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of paint, refinishing and SMART repair activities on vehicles, delivering high-quality results across both cosmetic and accident-related repairs. Your versatility will be key to supporting the wider bodyshop operation and maintaining efficient vehicle throughput.
Key Responsibilities:
·Carry out paint spraying, refinishing and SMART repair work to a consistently high standard
·Prepare panels and vehicles for paint, including sanding, masking, priming and surface preparation
·Complete colour matching, blending, polishing and finishing to achieve factory-quality results
·Carry out minor cosmetic repairs and SMART repairs, ensuring seamless finishes
·Inspect completed work and rectify any imperfections to maintain excellent repair quality
·Work closely with Panel Technicians, MET Technicians, VDA/Estimators and Workshop Controllers to maintain efficient vehicle throughput
·Maintain paint equipment, specialist SMART repair equipment and working areas in a clean and safe condition
·Follow manufacturer repair methods, bodyshop quality standards and Health & Safety procedures
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for an experienced and versatile Multi-Skilled Painter / SMART Technician who takes pride in their craftsmanship and can confidently work across paint, refinishing and SMART repair disciplines.
·Proven experience as a Paint Sprayer, Paint Technician, SMART Technician or Multi-Skilled Painter within an automotive accident repair centre or bodyshop
·Strong knowledge of modern automotive paint systems and refinishing techniques
·Experience carrying out SMART repairs and minor cosmetic repairs
·Strong preparation, paint application, colour matching and blending skills
·Ability to produce consistently high-quality, factory-standard finishes
·Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
·Ability to work efficiently across a range of repair requirements within a busy production environment
·Good understanding of manufacturer repair methods and bodyshop quality standards
·Reliable, professional and motivated approach to work
·Strong team player with good communication skills
·Ideally IMI and/or ATA qualified (advantageous but not essential)
·Full UK Driving Licence preferred
