A supportive SEN school in Earley is looking for a compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This role would be particularly well suited to graduates or individuals with an interest in psychology, counselling, mental health or education.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and mental health needs
Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
Supporting children who may experience anxiety, low mood, emotional dysregulation or challenging behaviour
Encouraging positive relationships and helping pupils build confidence
Supporting teachers with classroom activities and individual learning plans
Creating a calm, consistent and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe to learnYou will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to understand individual pupils and ensure support is tailored to their needs. This will allow you to develop valuable experience as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant.
This role provides excellent practical experience for anyone considering a future career in psychology, mental health, counselling, teaching or wider SEN support.
