How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrician
    Salary: Up to £45,000
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
    Location: Field based, covering High Wycombe, the Midlands and surrounding areas
    Contract: Permanent
    This is an opportunity to join an established UK engineering business in a field-based role, travelling to customer sites to commission, maintain and troubleshoot specialist ventilation and environmental control systems.
    The most important requirement for this role is a Level 3 Electrical NVQ, or a directly equivalent Level 3 electrical qualification. Previous commissioning, HVAC or ventilation experience would be useful, but full product training will be provided for someone with the right electrical background, practical ability and attitude.
    Key Responsibilities of the Electrician:
    * Commission systems and carry out functional and performance checks on customer sites.
    * Complete planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
    * Investigate faults and carry out electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
    * Test controls, wiring, components and associated equipment.
    * Liaise with contractors, site teams and end users to complete work efficiently.
    * Complete reports, test records and other required paperwork accurately.
    * Work in line with company health and safety and quality procedures.
    * Travel to customer sites across High Wycombe, the Midlands and surrounding areas.
    Requirements of the Electrician:
    * Level 3 Electrical NVQ, or a directly equivalent Level 3 electrical qualification — essential.
    * Full UK driving licence — essential.
    * Willingness to travel regularly as part of the role.
    * Good electrical fault-finding ability and a practical, hands-on approach.
    * Good communication skills and a professional approach when working on customer sites.
    * Experience within field service, commissioning, maintenance, HVAC, ventilation or building services would be beneficial.
    * Knowledge of control systems such as BACnet would be useful.
    * 18th Edition would be desirable but is not essential.
    * A CSCS card, SSSTS or SMSTS would be useful, although this can be discussed.
    What’s on Offer:
    * Monday to Friday, 40-hour working week.
    * Company vehicle, tools and equipment provided.
    * Comprehensive product training.
    * Ongoing career development.
    * Contributory pension.
    * Private healthcare after 12 months’ service.
    * Generous holiday entitlement, including a flexible holiday purchase scheme.
    * Cycle to work scheme.
    * Eye care vouchers.
    * Long service awards.
    Please do not rule yourself out because you have not worked on this exact equipment before. The Level 3 electrical qualification is the non-negotiable requirement; the wider product and industry knowledge can be trained
