How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Water Technician

    We are recruiting for an experienced Water Technician to join a growing civil and environmental engineering consultancy delivering drainage, flood alleviation and sustainable water management projects.

    The successful Water Technician will work across a varied portfolio of public and private sector schemes, with particular involvement in sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), traditional drainage and flood risk projects.

    This position offers involvement throughout the complete project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction.

    Water Technician Role

    As a Water Technician, you will work alongside senior engineers and other members of the project team to develop technically robust and sustainable drainage solutions.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Designing small-scale SuDS schemes
    Supporting larger flood alleviation projects
    Working on both public and private sector projects
    Supporting projects from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction
    Developing hydraulic models
    Producing civil engineering design packages
    Preparing and reviewing technical drawings
    Liaising with clients and project stakeholders
    Supporting projects through the design and approval process
    Working closely with senior engineers
    Assisting with the development of junior team members
    Managing workloads across multiple projects
    Ensuring work is completed in accordance with relevant technical and safety requirementsWater Technician Requirements

    The successful Water Technician should have a strong civil or environmental engineering background with experience in drainage, water or flood-related projects.

    You will ideally have:

    Relevant Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or similar degree / Master's qualification
    Strong CAD skills
    Experience using InfoDrainage or similar drainage design software
    Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
    Experience producing civil engineering design information
    Strong Microsoft Office skills
    Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Strong client and stakeholder communication skills
    Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
    A proactive and enthusiastic approachExperience with the following would be particularly advantageous:

    Civil 3D
    Revit
    Flood risk management
    Hydraulic modelling
    Foul water design
    GIS software
    Previous local authority or council project experienceWater Technician Salary & Benefits
