How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are recruiting for an experienced CAD Technician to join a growing civil and environmental engineering consultancy delivering highways, transport, drainage and water engineering projects.
The successful CAD Technician will produce high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models across a varied portfolio of projects, including highway improvement schemes, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage projects.
This position goes beyond straightforward drafting, offering the opportunity to work closely with engineers and project managers while contributing to BIM processes, digital design standards and the continued improvement of CAD procedures across the business.

    CAD Technician Role

As a CAD Technician, you will support projects from initial concept through to detailed design, ensuring drawings and models are technically accurate and produced in accordance with relevant standards.
    Key responsibilities will include:

Creating and modifying 2D technical drawings
Producing and updating 3D design models
Supporting highways, transport, SuDS and drainage projects
Working with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and AutoTrack
Maintaining drawing registers and document control procedures
Working alongside engineers, consultants and project managers
Resolving drawing and design-related technical issues
Ensuring outputs comply with relevant technical and health & safety standards
Supporting BIM workflows and model coordination
Contributing to the development of CAD and BIM templates and standards
Identifying ways to improve design and presentation methods
Supporting apprentices and graduates with CAD best practice
Managing workloads across multiple projects and deadlines

    CAD Technician Requirements

The successful CAD Technician will need a minimum of three years' relevant drafting experience together with strong AutoCAD capability and an understanding of civil engineering drawings.
    You will require:

Minimum 3 years' CAD drafting experience
    Strong AutoCAD skills
    Competency using Autodesk Civil 3D
    Competency using AutoTrack
Good understanding of civil engineering technical drawing standards
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
    Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Experience working alongside engineers and project managers
    Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to support and mentor less experienced team members
Experience with Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud would be advantageous, alongside knowledge of BIM Level 2 workflows and ISO 19650 standards.

    CAD Technician Salary & Benefits

The CAD Technician will receive a competitive salary alongside a comprehensive benefits package including:

    Flexible working
    Workplace pension
    Monthly wellbeing allowance
    Professional institution membership funding
    Training and professional development
    Support towards long-term career development
Employee profit share scheme following 12 months' service
Opportunity to work from the Richmond upon Thames office
The business provides civil and environmental engineering consultancy services across both the public and private sectors, with a particularly strong presence within highways, transportation, water and environmental engineering.
This opportunity would suit a CAD Technician who wants to develop beyond a traditional drafting position and become more involved with 3D modelling, BIM, technical standards and wider project delivery.
If you are an experienced CAD Technician with strong AutoCAD skills and experience using Civil 3D and AutoTrack, please apply today
