How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Secondary Science GCSE Teacher

    Contract: Contract, Term Time Only

    Location: Nottinghamshire

    About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in Nottinghamshire that supports children and young people with a range of additional needs.

Due to increasing pupil numbers, our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Secondary Science GCSE Teacher to join their team on a contract basis until Christmas. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to work within a highly supportive setting, helping pupils achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

The school provides education for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, attachment needs, sensory processing difficulties, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and mild to moderate learning needs.

With small class sizes of no more than six pupils, supported by teaching assistants, this role offers the opportunity to deliver highly personalised learning and make a genuine impact on students' development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver engaging GCSE Science lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
    • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
    • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider school staff to support pupil progress.
    • Promote positive behaviour and create a safe, supportive learning environment.
    • Monitor, assess and report on student progress.
    • Build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
    • Support educational visits and activities outside of the classroom where required.

    Requirements

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    • Degree-level qualification.
    • Experience teaching Science at GCSE level within a secondary setting.
    • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
    • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
    • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
    • Ability to build positive relationships and inspire learners.

    Safeguarding

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be expected to share this commitment.
