A fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a leading specialist law firm on a part-time basis in a newly created Head of HR & Operations role.
The role is offered on a four-day week basis.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Leading day-to-day HR support for staff, including contracts, records, appraisals, training, performance matters and engagement.
- Supporting recruitment and selection, including drafting job descriptions, advertising roles, shortlisting and interviews.
- Managing staff relations matters, including disciplinary processes, complaints administration and follow-up actions from performance reviews.
- Working with finance and senior leaders on annual staff pay reviews, staffing budgets and people-related priorities.
- Keeping HR policies, staff records and employment practices up to date and compliant with relevant requirements.
- Overseeing operations across the office, property, suppliers, facilities, security, insurance, leases and core administration.
- Managing operational budgets and supplier relationships, including contract negotiation, service reviews and value for money.
- Overseeing IT support and systems in conjunction with the IT Systems Project Manager.
- Line managing the operations and support team, including operations, administration, reception, library and research functions.
- Ensuring clear reporting to the Board on HR, operational priorities, risks and issues requiring decision or support.
About you:
- You will bring proven HR management experience, ideally gained in a professional services, legal, chambers or partnership-led environment.
- You will be comfortable operating in a broad role that combines hands-on HR delivery with wider operational oversight.
- You will have experience managing employee relations, recruitment, performance processes, HR records and policy compliance.
- You will be confident working with senior stakeholders and providing clear, practical advice on people and operational matters.
- You will be organised, commercially aware and able to manage suppliers, budgets, facilities and day-to-day office operations.
- You will enjoy working in a collegiate environment where good judgement, discretion and calm delivery are important.
