How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Group Head of HSE

    Liverpool

    Permanent

    £75-85,000

An excellent opportunity to join a leading UK infrastructure and logistics organisation, supporting the delivery and future development of its Group HSE strategy across a diverse portfolio of operational sites.

Working closely with the Group HSE Director, the successful candidate will operate as a strategic deputy, leading Group-wide projects, policy development, assurance activities and cultural improvement initiatives.

With significant growth, investment and expansion plans ahead, this role offers the chance to influence long-term HSE performance and play a key role in shaping the organisation's next strategic journey towards zero harm.

The Group Head of HSE will be responsible for:

    • Supporting the delivery of the Group HSE strategy while playing a leading role in the development of the next strategic roadmap, helping to drive continual improvement and progress towards a zero-harm culture.
    • Leading Group-wide HSE projects, developing policies, procedures and guidance, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements across a complex, high-hazard operational environment.
    • Conducting technical assurance activities, leading serious incident investigations and panels of enquiry, and identifying opportunities to strengthen performance, reduce risk and improve operational standards.
    • Acting as a trusted deputy to the Group EHS Director, engaging with senior stakeholders across the business, attending Board-level meetings and providing strategic HSE leadership across ports, logistics and associated operations.

The Group Head of HSE will have:

    • Extensive HSE leadership experience within a high-risk operational environment such as ports, logistics, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, aviation or other heavy industrial sectors.
    • A proven track record of influencing stakeholders at all levels, leading cultural change programmes and delivering measurable improvements in HSE performance.
    • Experience working with senior leadership teams and Boards, with the ability to translate business objectives into practical HSE strategies and deliverables.
    • Strong technical HSE expertise, including policy development, assurance, auditing, incident investigation and the leadership of complex business-wide improvement initiatives.
