Role Purpose:
The Underwriting Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Underwriting team, ensuring the accurate processing of risks, policy documentation, and underwriting data. The role supports the efficient servicing of brokers and contributes to the delivery of high-quality underwriting operations within the Lloyd's and London Market environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Underwriters with the administration of new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
• Accurately record and maintain risk, policy, and premium information within underwriting systems.
• Prepare and process underwriting documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Liaise with brokers and internal stakeholders to obtain information and resolve queries.
• Assist with policy issuance and maintenance of underwriting records.
• Monitor outstanding documentation and follow up where required.
• Produce reports and management information as requested.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and Lloyd's market standards.
• Contribute to process improvements and support wider underwriting operations activities.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
• Previous administration experience, ideally within insurance or financial services.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
• Experience within the Lloyd's or London Market insurance sector.
• Knowledge of underwriting processes and insurance terminology.
• Working towards, or an interest in pursuing, CII qualifications.
