The Role
An established and growing construction contractor specialising in high-quality commercial fit-out, refurbishment and bespoke joinery projects is looking to appoint an experienced
Project Manager to join its team.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of projects from pre-construction/handover through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects and working closely with clients, subcontractors, site teams and the wider commercial and operational departments.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage projects from initial handover through construction to practical completion.
* Develop, manage and monitor project programmes.
* Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist trades.
* Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.
* Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
* Monitor project progress, costs and resources, identifying potential issues at an early stage.
* Work closely with the commercial team regarding procurement, variations, valuations and project costs.
* Coordinate procurement of subcontract packages, materials and specialist joinery.
* Chair and attend project, client and subcontractor meetings.
* Ensure appropriate health & safety procedures are implemented and maintained.
* Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout each project.
* Manage design information, RFIs and technical queries.
* Ensure snagging, commissioning and handover are completed efficiently.
* Provide regular progress reporting to senior management.
* Support and manage Site Managers and site-based teams across allocated projects.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience as a Project Manager within the construction industry.
* Strong experience within commercial fit-out, refurbishment, interiors or joinery-led construction.
* A proven track record of successfully delivering projects from commencement through to completion.
* Strong programming, planning and organisational skills.
* Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of project costs.
* The ability to manage multiple subcontractors and specialist trades.
* Strong client-facing and communication skills.
* A practical understanding of construction methods, drawings and specifications.
* Good knowledge of health & safety requirements.
* The ability to identify problems quickly and implement practical solutions.
* SMSTS and relevant construction qualifications are advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence.
