How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

    Location: Hull, East Yorkshire

    Pay Rate: £105 – £125 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-Term Placements & Flexible Supply

Are you a status-qualified or highly experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for rewarding classroom leadership opportunities across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire?

GAC Education is recruiting dedicated HLTAs to deliver whole-class cover, PPA release, and targeted academic interventions across mainstream primary schools, secondary academies, resourced bases, and specialist SEN settings throughout Hull (including HU1–HU9, Cottingham, and Hessle).

Whether you excel at leading full primary classes, managing dynamic secondary environments, or delivering tailored nurture interventions for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), we offer flexible block placements and ongoing long-term roles to suit your career goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Planning, preparing, and delivering whole-class lessons and PPA cover in accordance with national curriculum expectations and adapted provision maps.

    *

Leading targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation for pupils with EHCPs.

    *

Implementing positive behaviour support strategies, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practices across diverse classroom environments.

    *

Assessing student progress, recording outcomes, and providing constructive feedback to class teachers and SENCOs.

    *

Upholding robust safeguarding standards in strict compliance with school child protection policies.

    Candidate Requirements

    *

Recognised HLTA Status (or substantial, verifiable experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools).

    *

Strong classroom management skills and experience supporting pupils with diverse learning needs (including ASC, SEMH, and ADHD).

    *

An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check during onboarding).

    *

Thorough practical understanding of statutory safeguarding principles and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

    *

A proactive, adaptable approach with the confidence to manage different year groups and educational settings seamlessly.

    Why Work with GAC Education?

    *

Ethical, Transparent Pay: Competitive daily rates fully compliant with national framework standards, accurately rewarding your elevated level of responsibility.

    *

Localised Hull Placements: Work matched directly to your postcode preferences across Hull and the surrounding East Riding area.

    *

Direct Director Support: Open, direct communication with experienced recruitment directors who understand the daily demands of classroom cover and SEN support.

    *

Flexible Working Patterns: Choose stable, ongoing full-time block bookings or retain complete control over your weekly supply schedule.
