How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

    Location: Hull, East Yorkshire

    Pay Rate: £80 – £110 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-Term Placements & Flexible Supply

Are you an experienced, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for rewarding opportunities across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire?

GAC Education is recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across mainstream primary and secondary schools, resourced bases, and specialist SEN provisions throughout Hull (including HU1–HU9, Cottingham, and Hessle).

Whether you specialise in 1:1 support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, or Moderate/Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), or hold experience in sensory regulation and nurture strategies, we offer stable long-term block placements and flexible day-to-day cover tailored to your schedule.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils achieve individual outcomes outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

    *

Implementing sensory routines, visual timetables, and adaptive learning materials in coordination with the class teacher and SENCO.

    *

Assisting with emotional regulation, utilizing positive behaviour support strategies and proactive de-escalation techniques.

    *

Fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes pupil independence, confidence, and well-being.

    *

Maintaining strict adherence to school safeguarding guidelines and child protection procedures.

    Candidate Requirements

    *

Proven experience supporting children or young adults with SEND, complex needs, or ASC in an educational, care, or youth work setting.

    *

A solid understanding of child protection procedures and statutory Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

    *

An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check during onboarding).

    *

Alternative communication skills (PECS, Makaton) or de-escalation training (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA, or Safety-Intervention) are highly desirable.

    Why Work with GAC Education?

    *

Ethical, Transparent Pay: Competitive daily rates fully compliant with national framework standards, ensuring your specialist support skills are properly rewarded.

    *

Localised Hull Placements: Work matched directly to your postcode and travel preferences across Hull and the surrounding East Riding areas.

    *

Direct Director Support: Open, direct communication with experienced recruitment directors who understand the daily realities of SEN classrooms.

    *

Work-Life Balance: Choose between ongoing full-time block bookings or retain total control over your weekly supply availability.
