How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Copello are currently seeking an experienced Digital Electronics Engineer to join a leading defence organisation in the Edinburgh area on an initial 12-month contract.
    Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration and verification of digital electronic systems used within complex defence programmes.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong digital electronics experience to work on technically challenging projects within a highly regulated and innovative environment.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Design and develop digital electronic hardware for complex defence systems.
    * Produce and maintain electronic designs, schematics and technical documentation.
    * Undertake FPGA and/or digital logic design activities where required.
    * Support the development and integration of electronic assemblies and sub-systems.
    * Carry out design analysis, simulation and performance assessments.
    * Develop and execute test strategies to verify digital electronic designs.
    * Investigate technical issues and undertake fault-finding at component and system level.
    * Support hardware integration, testing and qualification activities.
    * Work closely with systems, software, firmware, mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams.
    * Contribute to design reviews and provide technical input throughout the product lifecycle.
    * Produce engineering reports, specifications and other technical documentation.
    * Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, processes and regulatory requirements.
    * Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.
    The successful Digital Electronics Engineer will ideally have:
    * A degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
    * Proven experience in digital electronics design and development.
    * Strong understanding of digital electronic principles and circuit design.
    * Experience with schematic capture and electronic design tools.
    * Experience of hardware verification, testing and fault-finding.
    * Knowledge of FPGA technologies and digital logic would be highly advantageous.
    * Experience working with microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital interfaces and embedded hardware.
    * An understanding of PCB design and manufacturing processes.
    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    * Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
    * The ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
    The role will require hybrid working from the Edinburgh office.
    Role is inside IR35 and is paying a flexible rate depending on experience
