How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pastoral professional, youth worker, behaviour mentor, teaching assistant, or safeguarding practitioner looking to take the next step in their career and make a lasting impact on students' lives.

    The Role
    As Pastoral Lead, you will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement. You will work closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies to provide targeted support and ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.

    Key responsibilities include:
    · Supporting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
    · Building positive relationships with students and their families.
    · Leading interventions to improve attendance, behaviour and engagement.
    · Working alongside safeguarding and SEND teams to support vulnerable learners.
    · Monitoring student progress and implementing effective support plans.
    · Liaising with external agencies and support services where required.
    · Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school culture.

    The Ideal Candidate
    We are looking for someone who:
    · Has experience working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral, youth work, or support setting.
    · Can build strong professional relationships with students, families and colleagues.
    · Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
    · Is resilient, empathetic and solution-focused.
    · Has a good understanding of safeguarding and student welfare.
    · Remains calm under pressure and can effectively manage challenging situations.
    · Is committed to helping every young person realise their potential.
