How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Town Planner / Senior Town Planner - Dublin | Salary : £35,000/£45,000

    Penguin Recruitment is proud to be partnered with one of Ireland's leading Town Planning consultancies, who are looking to expand their Dublin team with experienced Town Planners and Senior Town Planners.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join an established planning practice working across a diverse range of public and private-sector projects, with exposure to some of Ireland's most exciting development schemes.

    The Role

    As a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner, you will have the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects and develop your career within a highly experienced planning team.

    Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities will include:

    Preparing and managing planning applications
    Undertaking planning research and development appraisals
    Providing strategic planning advice to clients
    Preparing planning reports and supporting documentation
    Assisting with planning appeals and submissions
    Contributing to Development Plan and Local Area Plan submissions
    Supporting Environmental Impact Assessment work
    Liaising with planning authorities, clients and other stakeholders
    Attending meetings and engaging with key project stakeholders
    Managing projects and working towards agreed deadlines
    Developing strong client relationships
    Supporting more junior members of the team at Senior Planner level
    Working on complex residential, commercial, infrastructure and mixed-use projectsThe practice's current project portfolio spans residential, commercial, healthcare, education, infrastructure, renewable energy, tourism and mixed-use developments.

    Requirements

    For Town Planner:

    Relevant Irish Planning Institute-accredited Town Planning qualification
    Ideally 1+ years' professional planning experience
    Knowledge of the Irish planning system
    Understanding of current Irish planning legislation and policy
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Good research and analytical abilities
    Excellent attention to detail
    A motivated and enthusiastic approach
    Strong interpersonal skills
    Willingness to learn and develop professionally
    Membership of the Irish Planning Institute, RTPI or another recognised Planning Institute desirableFor Senior Town Planner:

    Relevant Irish Planning Institute-accredited planning qualification
    Ideally 5+ years' professional planning experience
    Strong experience delivering complex planning projects
    Excellent knowledge of Irish planning legislation and policy
    Proven experience managing planning applications and projects
    Strong client management and stakeholder engagement skills
    Commercial awareness and understanding of the planning consultancy environment
    Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
    Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
    Membership of the IPI, RTPI or another recognised Planning Institute
