How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Town Planner

    London | Planning Consultancy | Competitive Salary + Benefits

    A leading independent planning consultancy is looking to appoint a Town Planner to join its growing London team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional looking to develop their career within a highly regarded consultancy, working across a varied portfolio of projects and clients. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team where they will have genuine exposure to projects from inception through to delivery, alongside opportunities to take increasing responsibility for their own caseload.

    The Role

    As a Town Planner, you will be involved in a broad range of planning work, including:

    Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
    Undertaking planning research and policy analysis.
    Providing planning advice to clients and project teams.
    Assisting with the preparation of planning statements and supporting documentation.
    Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
    Supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex development projects.
    Managing your own workload and contributing to the successful delivery of client instructions.
    Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and other industry professionals.The role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of development sectors, giving you excellent exposure to different planning issues and project types.

    About You

    We are keen to hear from candidates with:

    A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or a related discipline.
    Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related environment.
    A good understanding of the UK planning system and development management.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
    A proactive, commercial and solutions-focused approach.
    The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.RTPI accreditation or progress towards chartership would be advantageous, although candidates at different stages of their planning career will be considered.
