How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Opportunity

Our client is an innovative engineering and technology business developing advanced automated systems that are transforming industrial processes through cutting-edge robotics, AI and machine vision technology. Since its establishment, the company has experienced significant growth, delivering solutions to customers across the UK, Europe and the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior or Trainee Technician to join a rapidly expanding engineering business. You will support the assembly, testing and installation of sophisticated electro-mechanical equipment, working closely with experienced Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers.

The role would suit someone with a practical and hands-on approach who is looking to develop their technical skills and build a career within an engineering and manufacturing environment. Full training and support will be provided, with the opportunity to gain experience across electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly.

    Key Responsibilities

Support the electrical assembly, wiring and functional testing of products in the workshop and, following training, at customer sites.
Assist with the assembly, testing and installation of electro-mechanical systems to engineering specifications.
Build, inspect and test mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies under the guidance of experienced team members.
Follow assembly instructions, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
Learn to route and terminate electrical wiring, cabling, pneumatic tubing and conduit.
Use a range of workshop equipment, hand tools and power tools safely and appropriately.
Assist with identifying and resolving basic assembly, wiring and mechanical issues, escalating more complex faults to experienced Engineers or Technicians.
Provide feedback to the Engineering and Production teams to help improve products and manufacturing processes.
Work closely with Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers to support the successful delivery of projects.
Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Develop knowledge and practical skills across the full product build and installation process.

    Skills & Experience

Some practical, technical or engineering experience is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
A basic understanding of electrical or mechanical principles would be advantageous.
Interest in engineering, robotics, automation, manufacturing or electro-mechanical systems.
Comfortable using, or keen to learn how to use, hand tools and basic workshop equipment.
Ability to follow instructions and work carefully to engineering and quality standards.
Basic ability to read technical drawings, diagrams or instructions, or a willingness to learn.
A practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
Good problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn.
Reliable, motivated and willing to develop new technical skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A relevant technical qualification, apprenticeship, college course or practical experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Flexible approach to work, with willingness to support occasional weekend work where required (time off in lieu provided).

    What's On Offer

Full training and support from experienced Engineers and Technicians.
The opportunity to develop a broad range of electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical skills.
A fast-paced engineering environment with genuine technical challenges.
Exposure to cutting-edge robotics, automation, AI and machine vision technology.
The opportunity to contribute to process improvements and best practice.
Exposure to the complete product lifecycle, from assembly through to customer installation.
Occasional travel across the UK and Europe to support installations and commissioning, with appropriate training and support provided.
Clear opportunities for career development within an innovative and rapidly growing engineering company.
A role with the potential to develop into a more senior engineering or technician position over time.

    Additional Requirements

Able to travel occasionally throughout the UK and Europe to support customer installations and commissioning.
Must live within a commutable distance of East London, as this is a fully site-based position (5 days per week).
Proactive Global is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer.
Proactive Global is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy
