How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Science SEND/SEMH Tutor - Wokingham

    Phase: Secondary / SEND / SEMH

    Working arrangement: In-person

    Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced Science SEND/SEMH Tutor to work with children and young people in Wokingham. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

    The role will involve providing personalised Science tuition to students who may have SEND and/or SEMH needs and would benefit from a flexible and individualised approach to education. You will be expected to build positive and trusting relationships with students, adapt your teaching to meet their individual needs and help develop their confidence, engagement and progress in Science.

    The successful tutor will be able to create engaging and accessible Science lessons while remaining flexible to each student's pace, interests and learning needs. Experience supporting students who have struggled within a traditional school environment would be particularly beneficial.

    The role may involve

    Delivering one-to-one or small-group Science tuition
    Supporting students with areas of the Science curriculum appropriate to their age and ability
    Planning engaging, accessible and appropriately challenging learning activities
    Adapting teaching approaches to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
    Supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
    Helping students develop confidence and a positive attitude towards Science
    Supporting students to develop independent learning and study skills
    Helping students re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way
    Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
    Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students
    Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
    Maintaining clear and professional communication
    Following safeguarding procedures at all timesEssential requirements

    Experience teaching or tutoring Science to children or young people
    Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
    A good understanding of the secondary Science curriculum
    Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable
    The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning
    Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
    A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
    The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
    A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their potential
    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
    Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
    Satisfactory professional references
