How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job Title: Multi-Skills Lecturer - Prison Education

    Location: HMP (Kent)

Salary: Up to £37,400 per annum (Subject to experience)

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

    The Opportunity

Are you a skilled tradesperson or multi-skills tutor looking to use your practical expertise to transform lives? Do you want to play a key role in reducing reoffending by equipping adult learners with essential construction skills, workplace confidence, and accredited qualifications for post-release employment?

MK College Group has an exciting opportunity for an inspiring Multi-Skills Lecturer to join the prison-based Education Team at HMP Maidstone. In this rewarding workshop-based role, you will deliver hands-on, practical training across key construction trades-including Painting & Decorating, Tiling, and Plastering-guiding learners to build confidence, acquire qualifications, and prepare for successful careers upon release.

    What You Will Be Doing

Practical Trade Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality multi-skills construction modules covering Painting & Decorating, Tiling, and Plastering within a safe workshop environment.

Student Progression & Qualifications: Guide learners through course units, supporting them to achieve formal trade qualifications and develop practical, job-ready skills.

Safety & Tool Control: Maintain strict health & safety standards, workshop discipline, and tool control protocols in compliance with prison security policies.

Rehabilitation & Skill Building: Help adult learners develop strong workplace habits, resilience, and confidence to support their long-term resettlement and employment pathways.

Collaborative Teaching: Partner with the wider MK College Group education team to deliver a positive, high-impact learning experience designed to reduce reoffending.

    What We Are Looking For

Trade Expertise: Substantial vocational experience across practical construction trades, specifically Painting & Decorating, Tiling, and Plastering.

Teaching & Training Experience: Experience delivering vocational training, lecturing, or trade instruction is preferred. A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one) is highly desirable.

Classroom Management: Strong group facilitation, clear communication, and the ability to adapt practical teaching methods to engage adult learners with diverse background needs.

Values-Driven Approach: A creative, passionate attitude focused on empowering learners to overcome educational barriers and rebuild their lives.
