How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Maths & English Tutor

    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

    Prospero Teaching is urgently looking for a dedicated and experienced Maths & English Tutor to provide 1:1 support for a Year 9 student based in the SG2 area.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a young person who is currently working below age-related expectations and requires additional support to build confidence, engagement, and academic progress. The successful tutor will be responsible for conducting baseline assessments and delivering tailored Maths and English lessons to meet the student's individual learning needs.

    CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

    Location: Stevenage - SG2
    Position: SEN Maths & English Tutor
    Type of Work: 1:1 Tuition
    Start Date: ASAP
    Duration / Likely Duration: Ongoing
    Contract Type: Temporary
    Full Time/Part Time: Part Time
    Minimum Rate of Pay: £25-30 per hour
    Hours: 5 hours per week (1 hour per day, 5 days per week)

    Additional Information

    Face-to-face delivery only
    Tuition to be delivered within the school day between 8:30am and 1:15pm
    Tuition cannot take place between 11:00am and 11:20am due to school break times
    Baseline assessments required prior to programme delivery

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

    QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (desirable but not essential)
    Minimum 6 months' experience working within a UK school, tuition, or alternative provision setting
    Experience supporting students with SEN, including Dyslexia, ADHD, and communication needs

    TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

    Hold Right to Work in the UK
    Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
    Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years
