How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    šŸ  THE ROLE - PROACTIVE & REWARDING

    As a Housing Options Advisor, you will be at the heart of the service, acting as the first point of contact for individuals and families at risk of homelessness.

    You will provide proactive advice, support and early intervention to help prevent homelessness wherever possible.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

    * Managing housing and homelessness enquiries via telephone, email and face-to-face
    * Completing initial assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to determine customer needs
    * Using negotiation and mediation skills to work with landlords, families and other parties to prevent homelessness
    * Carrying out community and property visits to assess the suitability of temporary accommodation
    * Supporting the wider team with housing applications, case management and general casework
    * Providing high-quality, customer-focused housing advice and support

    āœ… WHAT YOU NEED

    * Proven experience within Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or a Housing Association environment
    * Strong working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
    * Valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle - essential for community/property visits
    * Ability to work on a hybrid basis, spending 2-3 days per week in the office
    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    * Strong empathy, negotiation and problem-solving abilities
