How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Ready to put your Occupational Therapy skills into practice?
Just graduated in Occupational Therapy and looking for a role where you can make a real difference from day one?
We've got a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming primary school in Walker, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). If you're passionate about helping children develop the skills they need to thrive, this could be the perfect first step in your career.
No two days are the same. One moment you could be supporting a child with sensory regulation, the next you'll be celebrating a breakthrough that's taken weeks of patience and encouragement. Those are the moments that make this role so rewarding.
    What you'll be doing
    * Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences and physical needs
    * Working alongside teachers, SEND professionals and therapists to deliver personalised support
    * Helping children develop fine motor skills, independence and confidence in the classroom
    * Using sensory strategies and therapeutic approaches to support learning and wellbeing
    * Building positive relationships with pupils and celebrating every success, big or small
    We're looking for someone who
    * Holds a degree in Occupational Therapy or is due to graduate this year
    * Has a genuine interest in working with children with SEND
    * Is calm, patient and enjoys finding creative ways to help children succeed
    * Works well as part of a team and communicates confidently
    * Has experience with children or young people through placements, volunteering or previous work, although this isn't essential
    Why you'll love this role
    * Gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive primary SEND setting
    * Work alongside experienced education and therapy professionals
    * Develop skills that are highly valued for future Occupational Therapy careers
    * Make a lasting difference to children's confidence, independence and progress every day
    Why join Protocol Education?
    * Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
    * FREE access to our online CPD Academy
    * Personalised support from your dedicated consultant
    * Opportunities in mainstream, SEND and alternative education settings
    * Streamlined registration and local opportunities
    * Referral scheme, earn rewards for recommending friends
Ready to start a career where every day counts?
Apply today and let's find you a role where your Occupational Therapy knowledge can help children grow in confidence, independence and happiness.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
