How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer

    Location: London
    Type: Full-time, Permanent

    The Opportunity

    An established, employee-owned international engineering consultancy is seeking a Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer to join its UK Engineering Design team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly respected transport and infrastructure group delivering technically robust, sustainable highway and infrastructure solutions across complex urban environments.

    You will support the delivery of a wide range of highway, drainage and infrastructure projects, contributing to technical excellence while developing your skills within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary consultancy setting. The role offers strong exposure to public sector-led schemes and genuine long-term progression.

    The Role

    You will assist with the production and delivery of highway and infrastructure design solutions from concept through to technical approval. Working alongside transport planners, engineers and designers, your responsibilities will include:

    Preparing detailed highway, drainage and infrastructure designs through the technical approval process

    Supporting Section 278 and Section 38 highway submissions, with awareness of Section 104 and 106 agreements

    Producing technical drawings and design outputs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D

    Applying relevant design standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, DCG drainage guidance and Building Regulations

    Supporting the preparation and maintenance of technical reports and project documentation

    Providing clear, technically sound advice to clients in line with project scope and quality standards

    Delivering work packages independently within agreed timeframes and budgets

    Communicating effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders

    What We're Looking For

    Consultancy experience delivering highway, drainage or infrastructure design projects

    Familiarity with UK highway standards and technical approval processes

    Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with exposure to AVT or KeySign/Post beneficial

    Ability to work autonomously within a team-based project environment

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

    Member of CIHT, ICE or an equivalent professional body, or working towards membership
