How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Acoustic Consultant

    Location: London
    Type: Full-time

    Overview

    Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be representing a leading consultancy in their search for a Senior Acoustic Consultant to join a dynamic and growing London-based team.

    This opportunity will enable you to contribute to transformative and iconic projects across the Buildings, Environment, and Transportation sectors, including the redevelopment of Earls Court, the refurbishment of St. Paul's Cathedral, and the expansion of St. Pancras International Station.     Responsibilities

    As a Senior Acoustic Consultant, you will:

    Carry out baseline environmental noise and vibration surveys, along with benchmark testing for existing buildings.
    Rigorously apply standards such as BS 4142, BS 8233, BS 5228, and ProPG to projects.
    Produce detailed and technically accurate reports for planning and design purposes.
    Utilize acoustic modeling tools, including CADNA/A and Odeon.
    Manage your workload independently while ensuring project delivery timelines are met.
    Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) across various projects such as residential developments, masterplans, roads, bridges, and industrial sites.
    Perform site inspections and PCT testing for building projects.
    Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Environment, Health, and Buildings divisions.
    Develop fee proposals, monitor project budgets, and track project profitability.
    Communicate seamlessly with architects and other professionals to ensure acoustic requirements are integrated into project designs.
    Support and mentor colleagues, fostering growth within the team.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    A degree in Acoustics, an IOA Diploma, or a Master's degree in a related field.
    Relevant experience in acoustic consultancy.
    Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and deliver successful outcomes.
    Proficiency in CADNA-A software (experience in Odeon is an advantage).
    A full UK driving license.
    Membership or Associate Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (working towards MIOA).
    A desire to achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.Personal qualities for success include excellent communication and organizational skills, commercial awareness, and strong client relationship management.

    Day-to-Day

    A typical day might encompass:

    Conducting site-based noise and vibration surveys.
    Engaging with architects and engineers to incorporate acoustic solutions into designs.
    Preparing technically rigorous reports for clients and project stakeholders.
    Utilizing modeling software to predict and analyze sound performance.
    Managing project deadlines and budgets efficiently.
    Contributing ideas and expertise during team meetings.
