How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEND Learning Support Worker

The Supply Register | Recruiting on behalf of The Newcastle College Group

Make a real difference every day.

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? Do you have a caring nature, a positive attitude, and the dedication to help learners achieve their full potential?

The Supply Register is delighted to be recruiting SEND Learning Support Workers on behalf of the Newcastle College Group (NCG). We are recruiting to support learners across Lewisham College, Southwark College, and The Higher Education Centre.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support students aged 16–25 with a range of additional and complex learning needs, helping them to access education, build confidence, and develop greater independence.

No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who is adaptable, compassionate, and committed to improving the lives of young people.

    The Role

As a SEND Learning Support Worker, you will work closely with students who require additional support throughout their college day. You will provide personalised assistance both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging independence while ensuring each learner can participate fully in their education.

Support requirements will vary depending on the individual student and the campus you are working at, meaning flexibility and a person-centred approach are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
Assist students to access learning across a range of subjects.
Promote independence, confidence, and personal development.
Support students with personal care where required.
Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider support team.
Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

    About You

We're looking for individuals who are:

    Compassionate, patient, and caring.
    Positive, proactive, and adaptable.
Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
Confident working with students who have complex learning needs.
Comfortable providing personal care when required.
Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.

    Experience

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

    SEND or SEN schools.
Further Education or Higher Education settings.
    Colleges or educational environments.
    Care, support work, or healthcare.
    Youth work or community support.
Experience with British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

    Role Details

    Locations:

    Lewisham College
    Southwark College
    The Higher Education Centre

Working Pattern: Typically 4–5 days per week

    Student Age Range: 16–25 years

Personal Care: Required as part of this role

Please note that working patterns, student timetables, and support requirements may vary depending on the campus and individual learner.

    Pay rate: £114-£129 a day.
