How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Service Engineer – HVAC / Building Services

    Field Based
    Permanent | Full Time

We are recruiting for an experienced Service Engineer to join an established UK engineering and manufacturing business supplying technically engineered products and systems into the building services sector.

This is a field-based engineering role involving fault finding, commissioning, servicing, planned maintenance and remedial work on HVAC and associated control systems at customer sites across the UK.

The role would suit an experienced Service Engineer, HVAC Engineer, Building Services Engineer or Commissioning Engineer who is comfortable working independently on customer sites and has a strong electrical or mechanical engineering background.

    The Role

As Service Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting installed HVAC and building services equipment throughout its operational life, from commissioning and investigation through to planned maintenance and repair.

    You will:

    *

Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, servicing and repair of HVAC and building services equipment.

    *

Commission HVAC equipment and associated electrical/control systems on customer sites.

    *

Undertake pre-commissioning checks, site surveys and technical investigations.

    *

Complete planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and corrective works.

    *

Work with equipment including AHUs, VAV systems, fire and smoke control systems, fans and associated HVAC controls.

    *

Investigate customer or site issues and identify appropriate technical solutions.

    *

Produce clear service reports, progress updates and snagging documentation following site visits.

    *

Liaise with customers, contractors and internal engineering teams throughout projects and service visits.

    *

Supervise subcontractors or additional site labour where required.

    *

Ensure site work is completed in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures, RAMS and site requirements.

    *

Provide basic customer training, demonstrations and system handover when required.

    *

Support and mentor less experienced engineers where appropriate.

    About You

We are looking for someone who already has a solid engineering background rather than somebody entering field service for the first time.

    You should have:

    *

A minimum of 3 years' relevant engineering experience demonstrating competence within electrical, mechanical, HVAC, building services, controls or a closely related engineering environment; ideally 5 years or more.

    *

Previous experience working as a Service Engineer, HVAC Engineer, Building Services Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, Facilities Engineer or similar.

    *

Practical fault-finding and diagnostic experience on electrical, mechanical or electromechanical equipment.

    *

Experience working with HVAC systems and an understanding of how mechanical equipment, electrical systems and controls interact.

    *

An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in electrical, mechanical or building services engineering.

    *

Experience working independently on customer, construction or commercial sites.

    *

Good written communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical service reports.

    *

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Experience with building management systems, HVAC controls, AHUs, VAV units, fan coil units, fire/smoke dampers or smoke control systems would be particularly relevant.

Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition, Electrical Installation qualifications, AM2 or an electrotechnical NVQ would also be an advantage, although candidates with a strong mechanical/HVAC background and suitable electrical competence will still be considered.

    The Opportunity

This is a varied engineering position rather than a repetitive maintenance role. You will work across commissioning, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs and technical problem solving and will have considerable responsibility for managing your own work while on customer sites.

It offers the opportunity to join an established engineering manufacturer with a substantial installed product base and develop further experience across HVAC systems, controls and specialist building services equipment
