How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CNC Miller

    Salary: £18 – £21 per hour, depending on experience
    Location: Luton, Bedfordshire
    Working pattern: Full-time, permanent — 40 hours (Monday to Thursday 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am – 2pm)

    About the role

    Pact Engineering is a long-established, family-owned precision engineering company with a strong reputation for producing high-quality, complex components for the motorsport, food production and wider manufacturing sectors. As our order book continues to grow, we're looking for a skilled CNC Miller to help us deliver the standards our customers expect.

    This suits an experienced CNC Miller, or a capable machinist ready to develop further, who wants to join a stable and well-run machine shop.

    What you'll be doing

    Programming, setting and operating 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines
    Producing high-quality components to tight tolerances
    Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings
    Using modern inspection equipment to verify part quality
    Working independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
    Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining our quality standards

    What you'll bring

    Experience programming, setting or operating 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling machines
    Competent CNC programming on HEIDENHAIN controls, or a willingness to train
    Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
    Understanding of the standards required to produce a high-quality finish
    Confidence using modern inspection tools and equipment
    Able to work with minimal supervision and use your initiative
    Fork-lift truck experience or certification is an advantage, but not essential
