How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Inspector (CMM) — Precision Engineering

    Salary: £18 – £21 per hour, depending on experience

    Location: Luton, Bedfordshire

    Working pattern: Full-time, permanent — 40 hours (Monday to Thursday 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am – 2pm)

    About the role

    Pact Engineering is a long-established, family-owned precision engineering company producing high-quality, complex components for the motorsport, food production and wider manufacturing sectors. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a skilled Quality Inspector to help maintain the standards our customers rely on.

    This suits an experienced inspector, or a competent engineer ready to step into a dedicated quality role, who wants to develop within a well-run machine shop.

    What you'll be doing

    Inspecting precision components and finished products against specification
    Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
    Using precision measurement equipment including micrometers, gauges and CMM
    Identifying and reporting non-conforming components
    Producing detailed inspection reports and quality documentation
    Identifying defects, supporting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
    Working with production teams to improve manufacturing quality and reduce defects
    Supporting the development and maintenance of quality procedures and ISO9001 standards

    What you'll bring

    Experience in quality inspection within a precision engineering environment
    Experience programming and operating Aberlink Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T
    Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO9001
    Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
