How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Early Years Practitioner (L1Z3) – Education Qualified

    Department: Children and Learning

    Service Area: Children’s Family Help and Safeguarding – Early Years – Children’s Centres

    Role Type: Temporary / Project & One-Off Workload Peak

    Hours: 27.5 hours per week

    Role Overview

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Practitioner to join a Children’s Centre team within the Early Years service.

    The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality early years provision, helping young children develop their learning, communication, confidence and social skills. You will work closely with children, parents, carers and other professionals to promote positive outcomes and ensure children receive appropriate support during their early years.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide high-quality early years education, care and developmental support to young children.

    Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development.

    Support children's personal, social and emotional development.

    Encourage language, communication, physical development and early learning skills.

    Observe and assess children's progress and contribute to appropriate learning and development plans.

    Create a safe, stimulating, inclusive and welcoming environment for children.

    Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers.

    Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals within Children’s Centres and Early Years services.

    Identify and respond appropriately to children's individual needs.

    Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within the setting.

    Maintain accurate records in line with service requirements.

    Follow safeguarding, health and safety and child protection procedures at all times.

    Contribute to partnership working and early intervention approaches supporting children and families.

    Essential Requirements

    Relevant Early Years / Education qualification.

    Experience working with children in an early years, nursery, children's centre or similar setting.

    Good understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

    Experience of planning and delivering age-appropriate activities.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to build positive relationships with children and families.

    Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

    Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

    Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for children and families.

    Desirable Experience

    Experience working within a Children’s Centre or Early Help environment.

    Experience supporting children and families who may require additional support.

    Knowledge of early intervention and family support services.

    Experience working alongside health, education, social care or other partner agencies.

    Working Pattern

    27.5 hours per week, supporting a temporary project / one-off workload peak within the Early Years and Children’s Centre service.
