Consultant Psychiatrist

Evolve Staffing Ltd. is sourcing a Consultant Psychiatrist for an NHS mental health service in Gosport, Hampshire. This clinical role requires a senior psychiatric doctor to lead the assessment, care planning, and medical treatment of adult service users within an integrated mental health service. The post holder will serve as the senior clinical authority, managing complex psychiatric cases, conducting statutory Mental Health Act assessments, and guiding the multidisciplinary care team to deliver safe, effective clinical care.

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide clinical leadership and medical management for adult patients suffering from severe mental illness across inpatient or community settings in Gosport.

*

Fulfill statutory duties as an Approved Clinician (AC) and Section 12(2) doctor, participating in Mental Health Act assessments, renewals, and tribunal hearings.

*

Conduct detailed psychiatric assessments, mental state examinations, risk formulations, and physical health evaluations.

*

Chair Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings, multidisciplinary ward rounds, and complex case conferences.

*

Prescribe, optimize, and supervise psychotropic medication plans following established NICE evidence-based guidelines.

Engage in departmental clinical governance, safety audits, and the supervision of junior medical personnel.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

Full GMC Registration with an active Licence to Practise.

*

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (CCT preferred).

*

Valid Section 12(2) approval and active Approved Clinician (AC) status in England.

*

MRCPsych or equivalent post-graduate award.

*

Proven clinical experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist within NHS mental health trusts.
