Consultant Psychiatrist

Evolve Staffing Ltd. is seeking an exceptional Consultant Psychiatrist for an adult mental health department based in Headington, Oxford. Situated within a major university city health trust, this role involves delivering high-caliber clinical care, evidence-based psychiatric interventions, and senior medical leadership. The successful candidate will work with a skilled multidisciplinary team to manage a caseload of adult service users experiencing severe depression, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, and acute stress reactions, providing comprehensive care across outpatient and community outreach environments.

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

Deliver expert clinical leadership for adult psychiatric services in the Headington area, conducting comprehensive clinical evaluations and risk formulations.

*

Formulate and implement holistic, recovery-focused treatment plans combining pharmacotherapy and referrals for evidence-based psychological therapies.

*

Fulfill statutory duties as an Approved Clinician (AC) and Section 12(2) doctor under the Mental Health Act, completing formal statutory assessments and tribunal documentation.

*

Chair Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings and participate actively in complex multi-agency case conferences.

*

Engage in collaborative working relationships with acute hospital departments, primary care networks (PCNs), and social care providers across Oxford.

*

Contribute to clinical teaching, audit programmes, and research initiatives within the Oxford healthcare environment.

Essential Candidate Criteria:

Full GMC Registration with an active Licence to Practise.

*

Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry.

*

MRCPsych qualification or equivalent international qualification.

*

Valid Section 12(2) approval and current Approved Clinician (AC) status in England.

*

Demonstrated clinical experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist within an NHS hospital or community setting.

* End Date: 30th November 2026 (High potential for contract extension)

* Shift Timings: 09:30 to 17:00 (Full-Time)
