Consultant Psychiatrist

Evolve Staffing Ltd. is recruiting a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join a dynamic mental health directorate in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. This senior post requires a decisive, experienced physician capable of managing acute and enduring psychiatric conditions across inpatient or crisis community settings. The successful doctor will lead a multidisciplinary care team, providing rapid diagnostic assessments, initiating stabilization protocols, and managing complex mental health cases to ensure safe clinical outcomes and efficient patient recovery pathways.

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide senior clinical oversight and medical decision-making for adult patients presenting with acute psychiatric crises and complex mental illnesses.

*

Perform comprehensive mental state examinations, risk assessments, and formulation of medical management plans.

*

Serve as the Approved Clinician (AC) and Section 12(2) doctor, participating in Mental Health Act assessments, hospital managers' hearings, and Mental Health Review Tribunals.

*

Lead daily clinical handovers, multidisciplinary ward rounds, and discharge planning meetings to ensure effective care continuity.

*

Oversee complex prescribing practices, managing treatment-resistant mental health conditions in line with evidence-based protocols.

*

Actively participate in departmental clinical governance, incident reporting reviews, and quality assurance processes.

Essential Candidate Criteria:

*

Full GMC Registration with a valid Licence to Practise.

*

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT / CESR completion).

*

MRCPsych qualification or equivalent post-graduate award.

*

Active Approved Clinician (AC) status and Section 12(2) approval in England.

*

Proven background as a Consultant Psychiatrist operating within NHS mental health trusts.

* End Date: 31st December 2026 (High potential for contract extension)

* Shift Timings: 09:30 to 17:00 (Full-Time)
