How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Lead Python Developer

    Location: London
    Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days a week in office)

    The Role

    We are looking for an experienced Lead Python Developer to join a growing technology team in London, taking a hands-on role in the design, development and delivery of high-quality software and analytical solutions.

    This is an opportunity for a technically strong developer who enjoys staying close to the code while also providing technical direction to the wider development team. You will be responsible for leading development practices, contributing to architecture and design decisions, conducting code reviews and helping to maintain high engineering standards.

    The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker and strong problem solver, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the development and delivery of robust, scalable applications using Python
    Remain hands-on with coding and contribute directly to the development of key projects
    Provide technical guidance and support to other developers
    Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure development standards and best practices are maintained
    Contribute to technical architecture, design and development decisions
    Analyse complex problems and develop effective, data-driven solutions
    Work extensively with data using SQL and R
    Identify opportunities to improve code quality, performance and development processes
    Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
    Help mentor and develop members of the wider engineering team
    Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesAbout You

    We are looking for someone who combines strong technical development skills with natural leadership ability.

    You will ideally have:

    Strong commercial experience developing with Python
    Good experience with R and SQL
    A proven track record as a Senior or Lead Developer
    A genuinely hands-on approach to software development
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    Experience carrying out code reviews and maintaining development standards
    The ability to make sound technical decisions and communicate them effectively
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Experience mentoring or supporting other developers
    The ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams
    A proactive mindset and a passion for building high-quality software
