How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a lead role within their commercial team.

This is a senior position suited to a commercially strong QS who enjoys having ownership of projects, developing people and working closely with project delivery teams.

    The Role

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, providing strategic commercial support to Project Managers, Site Managers and the wider business.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Taking ownership of the commercial performance of projects from start to finish.

    * Producing and presenting accurate financial reporting, forecasts and project performance information.

    * Leading monthly commercial reviews and CVR processes.

    * Monitoring project cash flow, costs, margins and commercial risks.

    * Managing valuations, variations, subcontractor accounts and final accounts.

    * Providing commercial and contractual advice to project teams and senior management.

    * Overseeing the preparation and submission of main contract valuations and variations.

    * Reviewing contract documentation and advising on contractual obligations, risks and opportunities.

    * Managing the procurement and commercial administration of subcontractor packages.

    * Overseeing subcontractor valuations, variations and payment processes.

    * Developing strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

    * Identifying opportunities to maximise project value while managing financial and contractual risk.

    Leadership

This role will also have a strong people-management element. You will be expected to:

Lead, motivate and develop members of the Quantity Surveying team.

Set clear expectations and monitor commercial performance.

Mentor less experienced QSs and support their professional development.

Encourage a high-performance, collaborative working environment.

Work closely with the wider leadership team to align commercial delivery with business objectives.

    About You

    We're looking for someone with:

    * 3+ years' experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.

    * Experience within construction, refurbishment or residential projects.

    * High-end or luxury residential experience would be advantageous.

    * Strong commercial awareness with the confidence to take ownership of significant projects.

    * Excellent knowledge of JCT contracts, cost management and construction processes.

    * Experience managing subcontractors, valuations, variations, procurement and final accounts.

    * Strong reporting and analytical skills.

    * Experience using commercial/project management software and advanced Excel.

    * The confidence to challenge, advise and influence at senior level.

    What's on Offer

Alongside a competitive salary, the business offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

    * Generous annual leave entitlement with additional days available for long service.

    * Private healthcare and access to a range of wellbeing services.

    * Gym and wellness membership.

    * Company pension contribution.

    * Flexible benefits and salary-sacrifice options.

    * Ongoing professional development and genuine opportunities for progression.

    * Regular company events and team activities.

    Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career with a growing specialist contractor working on some genuinely impressive London projects.

You'll have significant commercial responsibility, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to play an important role in developing the wider commercial function.
