Consultant Acute Medicine

Evolve Staffing Ltd. is spearheading a critical medical recruitment campaign to secure a Consultant in Acute Medicine for an immensely busy NHS acute trust in Bristol. The front door of the hospital requires a resilient, decisive, and highly skilled acute physician to lead the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways. This role is absolutely vital for ensuring rapid patient assessment, initiating early diagnostic and treatment plans, and optimising patient flow safely away from the emergency department.

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide senior clinical leadership and immediate decision-making for unselected acute medical admissions on the AMU and short-stay wards.

Drive the ambulatory care and SDEC services to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate early, safe discharges.

*

Lead the acute medical take, providing expert guidance and mentorship to junior doctors, SpRs, and advanced clinical practitioners.

*

Collaborate with emergency medicine and intensive care teams to ensure seamless patient transitions and robust clinical governance.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

Full GMC Registration and entry on the Specialist Register for Acute Internal Medicine (AIM) or General Internal Medicine (GIM).

*

MRCP (UK) qualification or equivalent.

*

Exceptional resilience, rapid clinical decision-making abilities, and a passion for acute medical care in a high-pressure NHS environment.
