Core Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide first-line medical assessment and management for patients presenting to the acute eye emergency department.
*
Perform detailed slit-lamp examinations, intraocular pressure checks, and basic ophthalmic diagnostics.
*
Assist senior surgeons in ophthalmic theatres, particularly during routine cataract surgery and minor oculoplastic procedures.
*
Ensure accurate clinical documentation and safe patient handovers across the ophthalmology ward.
Essential Candidate Requirements:

Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a valid licence to practise.
*
Previous clinical experience working within the NHS at the Foundation Year 2 (FY2), Core Surgical Training, or SHO level.
*
A demonstrable and genuine interest in pursuing a long-term medical career in ophthalmology.
