How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer

    Location: Heywood

    Salary: £42,000-£44,000 DOE

    An established and highly respected global manufacturer is seeking a mechanically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its flagship operation in Heywood. This is an excellent opportunity to work with advanced production equipment at a site that continues to invest heavily in automation, engineering excellence, and innovative technologies.

    Role Overview

    Deliver planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities to optimise equipment performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall reliability
    Investigate, diagnose, and resolve a variety of mechanical faults while assisting with electrical maintenance tasks where necessary
    Collaborate with fellow engineers, production personnel, and key stakeholders to maintain efficient site operations
    Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures while championing a strong safety-first culture across the site
    Identify areas for continuous improvement and support initiatives that enhance operational performance
    Play an active role in engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and site improvement programmesSkills & Experience Required

    Apprentice trained or time-served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with multi-skilled experience
    Background within Food, FMCG, Packaging, Manufacturing, or another fast-moving production environment would be highly advantageous
    Strong mechanical fault-finding expertise covering conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, and associated machinery
    Exposure to basic electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis would be beneficial
