How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Ready to Teach Without Taking the Work Home?

Love teaching but not the endless planning, marking and paperwork that seems to follow you through the front door?

Supply teaching could give you the flexibility and work-life balance you’ve been looking for.

Protocol Education is recruiting enthusiastic and committed Primary Teachers to join our team and enjoy the freedom of flexible teaching across Ipswich and the surrounding Suffolk area.

Focus on what you love most — teaching, inspiring pupils and making a difference in the classroom — without the same level of long-term planning, preparation and administration that comes with a permanent teaching role.

Why Choose Supply Teaching with Protocol Education?

Work when you want to work – choose the days that suit you
No taking work home – finish your school day and enjoy your evenings
No long-term planning commitments – arrive, teach and make a difference
Variety every day – experience different schools, year groups and classroom environments
    Competitive daily rates of pay
Access to daily supply, long-term and permanent opportunities
Free CPD-accredited training and professional development
A dedicated consultant who gets to know your preferences and career goals
Opportunities across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
The freedom to decide what type of teaching role works best for you

    The Role

As a Supply Teacher, you will step into classrooms and provide high-quality teaching and learning in the absence of the usual class teacher.

    You could be:

    Delivering pre-planned lessons
Managing the classroom and maintaining a positive learning environment
Supporting pupils across different year groups
Following school policies, routines and safeguarding procedures
Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
Adapting quickly to different school environments
    And the best part?

When the school day is finished, your work is finished too.

    Who Are We Looking For?

We'd love to hear from qualified Primary Teachers who are:

Passionate about teaching and inspiring children
    Confident managing a classroom
Adaptable and comfortable working in different school environments
    Reliable, professional and enthusiastic
Looking for greater flexibility and a healthier work-life balance
Whether you're an experienced teacher looking for a fresh approach, an ECT building confidence, or simply ready to rediscover what you love about teaching, Protocol Education can help you find the right opportunity.

    Teach. Inspire. Finish. Go Home.

No piles of books waiting for you.

    No Sunday-night planning panic.

No taking your classroom home with you.

Just great teaching, great schools and the flexibility to make your career work around you.

Ready to get back to the teaching you love? Apply today and speak to the Protocol Education team about flexible supply teaching opportunities across Ipswich and Suffolk.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website
