How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Water Hygiene Engineer

    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    Example Recruitment Group is delighted to be working on behalf of a well-established and highly respected compliance services provider that is looking to recruit an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join its growing team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in water hygiene and Legionella compliance who is looking to join an established organisation offering ongoing training and development.

    The successful candidate will work across a variety of client sites, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, monitoring, sampling and inspection duties to ensure water systems remain compliant with current legislation and industry standards, including ACoP L8.

    The Role

    As a Water Hygiene Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering a range of water hygiene and Legionella compliance services at customer premises.

    You'll manage your own scheduled site visits, liaise directly with customers and ensure all findings, recommendations and potential compliance issues are accurately recorded and communicated.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out water hygiene monitoring and compliance works in accordance with ACoP L8 and relevant industry guidance.

    Undertake temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems, including plant and distribution systems.

    Carry out showerhead cleaning and descaling.

    Inspect cold water storage tanks, calorifiers and associated water services.

    Carry out TMV inspections and servicing.

    Undertake water sampling for microbiological analysis.

    Identify potential Legionella and water hygiene compliance issues during site visits.

    Record site findings, observations and recommendations using a digital compliance system.

    Liaise directly with clients and site personnel regarding works, progress and any issues identified.

    Highlight remedial works and non-conformances requiring further attention.

    Support clean and disinfection works on water systems and associated plant where required.

    Ensure all works are completed in accordance with company method statements and procedures.

    Maintain and check equipment, ensuring instruments remain functional and within calibration requirements.

    Manage workloads effectively to ensure scheduled appointments are completed within agreed timescales.

    Liaise with planning teams to maximise productivity and efficiently organise site visits.

    Complete service reports accurately and submit documentation promptly following each job.

    Ensure jobs are delivered efficiently and within allocated costs.

    Maintain a professional image when representing the company on customer sites.

    Follow all relevant Health & Safety procedures, including lone-working requirements.

    About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Previous experience working as a Water Hygiene Engineer, Water Hygiene Technician, Legionella Monitoring Technician or similar.

    Good knowledge of ACoP L8 and Legionella control requirements.

    Experience carrying out temperature monitoring and water hygiene PPM tasks.

    Experience with showerhead cleaning and descaling.

    Experience inspecting cold water storage tanks and calorifiers.

    Experience inspecting and/or servicing TMVs.

    Experience taking water samples for microbiological analysis.

    A good technical understanding of domestic hot and cold water systems.

    The ability to identify potential non-conformances and remedial requirements.

    Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills.

    Good communication and customer service skills.

    The ability to manage your own workload and work independently across multiple client sites.

    A professional and reliable approach to work.

    A full UK driving licence, due to the field-based nature of the position and use of a company vehicle.
