How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you an engineer with geotechnical or geo-environmental field experience? Do you have a background in ground investigation and are you ready to take the next step in your career? We're seeking a talented and driven Geo-Environmental Engineer to join an expert team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of ground investigation projects and further develop your technical skills in an established, supportive consultancy.

    As a Geo-Environmental Engineer, you will have the chance to apply your technical expertise and work on a variety of complex projects in both office and field settings. You'll work alongside experienced professionals and benefit from ongoing training and development.

    Networking opportunities.Key Responsibilities of the Geo-Environmental Engineer role:

    Conducting and overseeing ground investigations, including borehole logging and coring, soil sampling, and field testing.

    Writing factual and interpretive reports based on field data.

    Ensuring health and safety standards are met on site.

    Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and other team members to ensure smooth project delivery.

    Managing the technical aspects of projects, with potential for client interaction and project leadership.

    What we're looking for:

    A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering).

    Some prior experience in a geo-environmental or geotechnical role, with proficiency in ground investigation techniques.

    Strong report writing and communication skills.

    A full UK driving licence, as travel to site is required.

    Eligibility to work in the UK.
