How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Fire Engineer
    Salary: Circa £75,000 + benefits
    Location: Homebased / Southeast UK with national travel

    We're supporting a well-established property risk and compliance consultancy to recruit a Senior Fire Engineer to join a growing team. This is a hybrid client-facing role, supporting a diverse portfolio of risk and fire projects. The Senior Fire Engineer will provide expert fire engineering consultancy services ensuring the protection of people and property through comprehensive fire strategies, risk assessments, and compliance with fire safety regulations.

    The successful Senior Fire Engineer will:

    Produce fire strategy reports and fire safety management plans for new and existing buildings.
    Identify fire risks and develop practical measures to prevent fire and minimise fire spread, including sprinklers, smoke control, alarms and escape routes.
    Create fire safety designs, calculations, sketches and diagrams, including recommendations for construction and refurbishment materials.
    Conduct site inspections to assess implementation and provide advice, liaising with architects, building control and local authorities as required.
    Support project delivery to time and budget, including resource management, project reviews and applying basic H&S requirements on operational sites.
    The successful Senior Fire Engineer will have:

    MIFireE Membership (Institute of Fire Engineers)
    Beng, BSc or MSC in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety
    Experience producing fire strategy reports and fire consultancy services (ideally for residential and commercial buildings)
    Strong understanding of legislation such as ADB, BS9999 and BS9991
    Willingness to travel across the UK as needed
    Strong analytical and report writing skills
