How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

UK Wide Travel | Extensive Training & Development | Long-Term Career Progression

Are you a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys being hands-on, travelling across the UK, and working with customers on-site?

We are recruiting for a Field Maintenance Engineer to join a highly respected international engineering business that is known for investing heavily in its people, providing exceptional training, and offering genuine long-term career opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys mechanical engineering, inspections, and working independently in the field. The role will see you visiting customer sites throughout the UK, carrying out planned maintenance inspections on advanced industrial machinery and equipment.

Unlike many field service positions, this role initially focuses on preventative maintenance and detailed inspections rather than reactive breakdowns and troubleshooting. Full schedules are planned several weeks in advance, allowing engineers to effectively manage their workload and travel commitments.

One of the standout aspects of this role is the level of support provided to field engineers. A dedicated travel team manages all accommodation, transport and logistics, meaning you won't spend your evenings booking hotels, planning routes or organising travel arrangements. Everything is coordinated for you in advance, allowing you to focus on what you do best: delivering high-quality inspections, building customer relationships, and developing your engineering expertise.

    The Role
As a Field Maintenance Engineer, you will:

Travel to customer sites across the UK carrying out scheduled maintenance inspections
Complete detailed inspections following established maintenance procedures and checklists
Produce clear customer reports highlighting findings and recommendations
Identify wear, damage, or potential maintenance requirements
Build positive relationships with customers during site visits
Stay away from home during the working week as required
Work closely with the wider service team to ensure excellent customer supportOver time, as your knowledge and experience develop, there will be opportunities to become involved in repair work and progress into a fully-fledged Service Engineer position.

    What We're Looking For

Mechanical Engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience
Practical engineering skills and confidence working on mechanical equipment
Comfortable using tools and carrying out inspections on-site
    Excellent communication and report-writing skills
Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and stay away during the week
    Professional, customer-focused approach
Someone looking for a long-term career opportunity rather than a short-term moveWhat's On Offer

Comprehensive training programme and ongoing development
Clear long-term career progression into Service Engineering
Opportunity to work for a highly professional and supportive organisation
Structured work planning with schedules prepared well in advance
Exposure to advanced engineering equipment and technology
Strong team culture with genuine investment in employee development
Long-term stability and career growth opportunitiesWhy Apply?
This is far more than just another field engineering role. You'll be joining a business that genuinely values its people, invests in their development, and provides the support needed to build a successful long-term career. From structured training and clear progression pathways through to a dedicated travel team that handles all your accommodation and logistics, every effort is made to allow engineers to focus on their development and delivering an excellent service to customers. If you're looking for a company where training, progression and employee support are part of the culture, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
