How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of a number of high-profile projects across Central London.

This is not your typical short-term contract role. The successful candidate will be joining a business with a substantial pipeline of secured work, offering long-term continuity and stability that many freelance opportunities simply can't provide. It's an environment where contractors are treated as a valued part of the team, often remaining with the business for years.

Working on technically challenging schemes in some of London's most complex environments, you'll play a key role in delivering major substructure and reinforced concrete packages from planning through to completion.

    The Role

You will be responsible for supporting site operations, coordinating engineering activities and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

    Key duties will include:

    • Managing engineering activities across RC and substructure works
    • Coordinating with site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders
    • Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
    • Managing temporary works requirements and engineering solutions
    • Supporting programme delivery and resolving technical issues on site
    • Ensuring quality, safety and compliance standards are maintained
    • Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
    • Assisting with planning and sequencing of construction activities

    What We're Looking For

    • Proven experience working as a Project Engineer within civil engineering, RC frame, substructure or major construction projects
    • Strong technical understanding of reinforced concrete and substructure works
    • Ability to manage relationships with site teams and subcontractors
    • Knowledge of engineering and construction best practice
    • Strong organisational and communication skills

    Highly desirable:

    • Previous demolition project experience
    • Experience working on complex city-centre developments
    • Ability to start at short notice

    What's On Offer?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established specialist contractor delivering some of the capital's most interesting and technically challenging projects.

With a strong order book, long-term project pipeline and a reputation for retaining high-performing engineers, this role offers the security of a permanent position while maintaining the flexibility and earning potential of freelance work.

If you're a Project Engineer with a strong background in RC and substructure works looking for your next long-term opportunity, we'd be keen to hear from you
